- just played my first game of blackbeard.
- what fun!
- if you can work your way through the rules;
- the game is simple enough, but
- the rulebook is very poorly organized. many important points
- are buried in paragraphs whose subject heading is something else
- entirely, for instance, and it's extremely difficult to get
- a good idea of the gist of the game from reading
- the rules; you have to just jump in, try to look things up as they
- happen, cross your fingers, and three hours later you have
- some idea as to what's going on. the rules even contradict themselves
- on occasion; for instance, duels can happen on any shared hex or oly on
- shared ports, depending on what section
- to believe. this is just one example.
- why do the avalon hill people
- insist on releasing such poorly-organized rules?
- guys, i KNOW i can write a better rulebook; if you want,
- next time around, i'll be happy to help.
-
- ANYWAY...
- getting to the point:
- it's clear that my action cards are wrong; some are repeated, some are
- missing. i can see no RANDOM EVENT IS TRIGERRED on any of
- my cards, as the rules mention (thus we had no random events
- happen -by which i mean those listed on the back of the rulebook).
- are random events really supposed to be trigfgered by cards, or did
- i miss something? can people elaborate (for instance, exactly how
- many cards trigger them, and which ones are they? i'm getting the
- deck replaced, and i want to make sure thast'll do it.
- any errata that come to mind? other than those mentioned on the general?
-
- thanks so much!
