- "Training for Cycling" by Davis Phinney and Connie Carpenter with
- Peter Nye. Perigee Books (Putnam Publishing Co.), 1992.
-
- I had been asking my wife for this but hadn't seen it locally so didn't
- expect it. She found it at Crown Books. If you've read most of the
- other training manuals around (LeMond, Eddie B., Hinault) you won't
- find much new in this book. One nice thing is that it was published
- in '92 so has pictures of Indurain from '91 and Davis in his National
- Pro Championship jersey.
-
- The 49 page prologue covers Connie and Davis's carreers through Connie's
- olympic gold in '84 and Davis's '91 Corestates US Pro championship.
- It's the best history I've read of the "Class of '84" and the 7-Eleven
- team (I wasn't following cycling between '85 and '90). Also interesting
- was Connie's account of the competition between her, Rebecca Twigg,
- and Jeanne Longo.
