- : You should probably ride with other people though
- : since in some places the locals are not very friendly to Haole tourists.

- I quess I would not dispute this, but folks might be interested in the

- I went to Maui in August. I was mentally prepared for some sort of
- harrassment, and thought the inevitable was about to occur on my first
- ride as a pickup truck came up behind me with repeated blasts from the
- horn. The driver was waving his arms frantically as he came up along side
- and seemed to be trying to tell me something. Reluctantly I stopped, as did
- the driver, who then approached me with one of those water sacks one wears
- over the shoulder while riding. Apparently he had found it on the road and
- somehow became convinced it was mine. Naturally I felt like an idiot for
- being so paranoid (Hey- I live in Oakland- I've got license to be terrified)
