  19. You have to have the proper attitude to read USENET.  Treat it as a
  20. pedants convention, and you'll do well.  If you treat every posting
  21. seriously, you'll go nuts.  USENET, IMHO, has a very low signal-to-noise
  22. ratio ... there's a lot of crap here, but every once in a while, there
  23. will be a posting from someone (like you, toby) who really knows what's
  24. going on in a particular aviation specialty, which makes it all worthwhile.

  26. Gotta learn to filter out the crap.  One thing I'm amazed at is how thin-
  27. skinned you are about this ... I would expect that someone (who is used to
  28. having people shoot at him) would pretty coolly laugh off criticism from
  29. some guy who might have 10 hours in a C-150.  I sure do, and hardly anyone
  30. ever shoots at me :-)

  32. Reminds me of the time that I got mail from some people, whom I hope
  33. to god aren't licensed pilots, who claimed that during a normal flare,
  34. their production a/c center of lift moved forward past the center of
  35. gravity, and their tail quickly switched from producing downward lift
  36. to producing upward lift.  Sure.  Cheque's in the mail, too.

  38. What do you do with amateurs like that?  Well, you try to educate them,
  39. and when they don't want to learn, you shrug your shoulders and move on.

  41. You don't get angry at the fumbling student pilots in the pattern, do
  42. you?  Nope, you try to be tolerant, and hope that they will improve
  43. over time.  Same thing here.
