- Stanzas of this era had dual plugs and an electronic ignition module
- in the distributor with separate switching mechanisms for each plug
- set. These modules failed regularly, with the first symptom being
- a reduction in power as one set of plugs would no longer fire, and
- finally loss of ignition when the thing quit completely. The problem
- was that the ignition module was located in a hot area and usually
- had no silicone grease between its heat sink and the mounting surface.
- If you replace the module, get some of this grease from Radio Shack
- and use it to increase the heat transfer out of the module - it
- should last forever (198,000 miles on my '82 Stanza and no further
- problems yet).
