- Just thought I'd jump in for a few comments.
- First off, PBS IMHO generally stinks. If we go back to the original
- premise of PBS it was (as Robert touches on above) was to present
- creative and informational programming that was not available anywhere
- else on television (pre-cable). But if we look at what is offered
- today we see programming that (for the most part) can be seen on
- lots of other outlets (commercial TV). Incredibly insipid pop
- psychology shows that are a disgrace to TV. 20 year old British
- sitcoms. Cooking shows (and lots of them). And now it's getting
- attacked by right wingers for being to politically biased.
- Even Frontline isn't that consistanly political. So now the big guys
- running PBS have given in to those right wing morons and have announced
- they will (in essence) be self censoring themsleves. What's the point
- anymore? A few months ago I saw a show on the lifestyles of the Royal
- Family!!
- I say, unless the PBS big guys can figure out what PBS should be about
- and have the guts to stand behind it, let it die without my support.
- They might take a lesson from Public Radio which I do support!
