- Perhaps they took ropes instead of jet packs is that ropes are more
- versatile. A rope can be used for many, many things besides rappelling,
- while jet-boots are generally less usefull in confined underground spaces.
- They weren't sure what they might encounter, so they had to pick the most
- versatile equipment they could, meaning ropes.
