  11. Perhaps they took ropes instead of jet packs is that ropes are more
  12. versatile.  A rope can be used for many, many things besides rappelling,
  13. while jet-boots are generally less usefull in confined underground spaces.
  14. They weren't sure what they might encounter, so they had to pick the most
  15. versatile equipment they could, meaning ropes.
