- Just out of curiousity, how many people out their have noticed that in many
- respects Riker is *ALREADY* in command of the Enterprise? If you think about
- it, Picard basically lets Riker run the ship now. He only comes out of his
- office to make high level judgements, and acts a lot like an Admiral on the
- deck of the Enterprise. As long as Riker has good command judgement, he
- should be able to take over the Enterprise easily (...in a few episodes, he
- has done this when Picard was missing :-)).
-
- I haven't seen the Picard & Riker command sharing topic come up before, and I
- think it has something to add to these discussions. Think about how Picard
- and Riker divide command up on the Enterprise. Riker has a lot of power and
- command responsibility right now! Maybe this adds some meat to why Riker
- wouldn't want to leave the Enterprise. He is having a great time now, and
- Picard will retire eventually...
