  12. I went to a local TV station where a friend works Wednesday night
  13. to watch the DS9 premiere via their giant satellite dish and
  14. 50-inch monitor screen.

  16. Here's how I'd grade the show:
  17. story line: A
  18. acting & directing: B
  19. special effects: A
  20. music: F

  22. There were about ten people in the room, we all pretty much agreed
  23. on the above assessment.  The theme music and incidental music
  24. were extremely lame; everything else was between okey-dokey and
  25. excellent.

  33. synopsis: Commander Sisko is assigned to DS9 which orbits Bejor (sp?).
  34. He is a single parent raising his son alone; his wife was killed by
  35. the Borg at Wolf 359.  After arriving on the station and looking around,
  36. he has a meeting with Picard which reminds them both of the awful
  37. Locutus days.  The Cardassians have just withdrawn from Bejor after
  38. robbing the Bejorans of all their valuable resources, or so they
  39. think.  Sisko goes down to the planet and meets the Bejoran spiritual
  40. leader, named Kai Opaka or some such.  She shows him a mysterious
  41. device, one of several which appeared in Bejoran skies over the
  42. course of many centuries.  She tells Sisko it is his destiny to
  43. find "the celestial temple" before the Cardassians do.  He asks her
  44. what she's talking about, but rather than explaining, she gives
  45. him the mysterious device and sends him on his way.
  46.  
  47. After further research, Sisko and his pal Dax (a member of the
  48. symbiotic Trill species) discover that something odd must be
  49. going on in a nearby section of space.  There is a cardassian
  50. ship at the space station, so a crew-mate of Sisko's sneaks onto
  51. the cardassian ship to disable its sensors so that Sisko can
  52. take a small scout ship into that part of space.  They discover
  53. a very unusual wormhole leading to the gamma quadrant.  Before
  54. long, a Cardassian ship discovers it too, but gets trapped on the
  55. other side.

  57. Three angry Cardassian warships come to DS9 wanting to know what
  58. happened to the other ship.  Sisko is trapped in the wormhole
  59. while mysterious life-forms attempt to communicate with him, and
  60. consider destroying him.  The Cardassians attack the nearly
  61. defenseless space station.  Drama!  Excitement!  Will they survive?
  62. Tune in and find out.
