-
- Lady Johanna, there are basically two different explanations as to why
- there are still immortals running around after Connor won the Prize.
- The explanation of the people who make Highlander:The Series is that
- it takes place after the 1st Highlander movie but before Highlander 2:
- The Quickening (aka the Sickening). This explanation, given in an interview
- in Starlog magazine by one of the producers of the Highlander TV series
- a few months ago, has huge problems as you've outlined above.
-
- The 2nd explanation, favored by Highlander fans like myself, is that
- Highlander: The Series takes place before Connor won the Prize. Thus
- the Kurgen, Castagir, and all the other immortals are still alive so
- Duncan can continue to encounter them. The only problem with this
- explanation as you point out are the dates; the movie Highlander
- supposedly took place in 1985 while the series is taking place right
- now , i.e. in the early 1990's. There's no way to solve that
- contradiction so most Highlander fans just ignore it. All you have
- to do is retcon (if you are familiar with that term) the movie
- Highlander as taking place some indefinite time in the future after
- the series.

- As I said above they dont explain it.

-
-
- In the 1st episode which did have Christopher Lambert as the guest star
- it was revealed the Connor trained Duncan. As to who gave Duncan his
- sword most people assume Connor gave it to him though this hasnt been
- specifically said in the series. No one knows if the sword Duncan
- carries is Ramirez's sword or not. The series hasnt said anything
- about it either way and I've seen it argued either way.

-
- > Are there any other immortal women besides the now deceased Felice Martin?
-
- The Starlog article hints at there being more though we havent been shown
- any others in the series. And Felice isnt dead. Duncan didnt kill her in
- consideration of Richie and his own chivarous (sp?) impulses. Big mistake
- in my opinion. Felice Martin is not the kind of person you just wound and
- then leave alone. She's not the kind of person for whom the shock of nearly
- losing her life will cause her to take stock of her life and turn
- over a new leaf. She's the kind of person who will take a show of mercy as
- as a sign of weakness and will brood, plot and plan to get revenge. And Duncan
- may not be so lucky as to beat her next time.
-
-
-
-

-
- Sorry, dont know about that.
-
- > Does the show take place in Seattle, Toronto or Vancouver? I keep
- > getting confused.
-
- So are the producers :-). They havent seemed to be able to settle on
- a location where they want the series to be taking place. Maybe they'll
- just settle for a generic North American city as Highlander: The Series
- location. An awful lot of shows take place there :-).
-
- > Tessa seems french canadian, but I could eb wrong.
-
- Tessa is definitely European and she looks it. She's supposed to be French
- but she seems more Dutch or Scandinavian to me. Maybe its because the
- actress who plays her, Alexandra Vandernoot, has a Dutch sounding name.
-
-
- > Does anyone esle find Richie totally annoying?
-
- Many people agree with this, including me. Richie is irritating enough
- that some Highlander: The Series fans are starting to feel towards him
- the way many ST-TNG fans feel towards Wesley Crusher, though I havent
- anyone send out a alt.richie.die.die.die newgroup message yet.
