  12. I personally think Time Trax will be a lame combo of Quantum Leap and
  13. Trancers...  But don't take it from me, here's Grant Rosenberg, executive
  14. producer of Time Trax on the subject of whether SELMA is a cheap clone
  15. of Al from Quantum Leap from an interview in the Feb 93 issue of Starlog...

  17. The premise of a time traveler with a holographic companion has led to some
  18. comparisons with _Quantum Leap_.  Aware of possible criticism, Rosenberg is
  19. quick to point out the contrasts between the two shows.  "The primary
  20. difference is that Darien has moved from point A to point B and has made point
  21. B home," he comments.  "It's not him going back to play in the 1919 World
  22. Series or whatever.  Sam Beckett can come back as a child, a woman, a black
  23. man or a dog.  Darien is Darien and he _stays_ the same.  Our show is more
  24. action-oriented than _Quantum Leap_, which is really a weekly character
  25. study.
  26.   "In terms of the hlograms, we didn't feel here was a conflict.  The hologram
  27. in _Quantum Leap_ is a cigar-chomping, wisecracking guy who comes in, makes a
  28. few comments and leaves.  He serves his function for that show, and it's
  29. very appropriate.  Ours is much more of a tool and an information base.  Selma
  30. is used not so much in visual mode, but as a very advanced computer.  She's
  31. much more multi-functioned than the companion in Quantum leap."
