- I seem to recall that Lucas himself had some apprehensions about
- the whole Ewok thing. Something like "I was afraid that people would
- think the whole fuzzy bear thing was too corny" I have the original TIme
- magazine article from when RoTJ came out, and it too calls the last
- eighth of the film "one of the corniest endings in recent times" Oh,
- well, not everybody can have an adult, sophisticated, collegiate,
- archetypical/meaningful/heavy movie all the time. I also recall that he
- had said (perhaps in SW to Jedi?) that he had already used up Kashyakkk,
- and so couldn't use the Wookies again, so instead of really BIG he just
- went really SMALL. (And c'mon, what kind of empire needs its biggest
- battle station to be guarding a slave world) I for one liked the party,
- although some scenes of shaking, sweat-soaked fighter pilots and battered
- droids being pulled out of smoking fighters would have lent some credence
- to the spacewar theme. I dunno. I might have turned into_Ice Pirates_, if
- he'd done that......
- "Assure you, this station will be operational as planned..."
- "The Emperor does not share your optimistic appraisal of the situation."
