- George Lucas said basically that in _From Star Wars to Jedi_, when he was
- talking about that scene, he said that at that part of the script, all that
- was written was "Darth Vader says something that enrages Luke". He pondered
- over that for days until he realized that the answer was staring him in the
- face...his sister. From then on, Luke was supposed to have been taken over
- by the Dark Side, but when he slices off his father's hand on the bridge,
- much like a reversal of the Bespin saber duel, Luke steps away from the Dark
- Side.
-
- as an aside, _From Star Wars to Jedi_ has the Jabba scene from ANH in pan 'n
- scan version (a shock after watching the other three movies on my new VHS
- letterboxed edition--i'll never watch Star Wars on P 'n S again!!). Jabba
- was filmed as a human, and the special effects people were going to change
- the human into a stop-motion creature, but the scene was cut before they were
- able to do that.
