- Yes - Clarke's "Childhood's End" was indeed the partial inspiration for
- "Watcher of the Skies" by Genesis. In 1971/72 whilst in Italy promoting
- the "Nursery Cryme" album, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford were on the
- roof of a tall building and looking around them could see no signs
- of human life whatsoever. Both, Rutherford in particular were at the time
- keen SF readers, and their experience, together with the book were the
- inspiration for the song on the next LP, "Foxtrot".

- a pinch of salt.
