  38. "Can't come" is too strong.  However, the letter explicitly states that
  39. persons under the age of 18 will be treated differently depending on
  40. whether or not they are personnally known.

  42. The whole tone of the letter is that the clock was being turned back
  43. many
  44. years, that long time Boskone members were welcome and their opinions
  45. would be given weight but most of the newbie riff-raff was being tossed
  46. except those who were interested in the re-oriented Boskone and could
  47. attend on probation.  As the owner of Boskone, NESFA was certainly
  48. entitled to do that, and I think it is very close to the model many
  49. NESFAns had of excatly what they wanted to do.

  59. I think you are trying to re-write history Dave.  It seems to me that
  60. NESFA
  61. explicitly voted to take the actions it did and send out the letter,
  62. because it
  63. felt it was necessary to save Boskone, knowing full well that thousands
  64. people would be offended and there would be a lingering bitterness for
  65. years.
  66. Boskone is free to present itself as it wishes for its current
  67. incarnations.
  68. I should think people would be willing to forgive what they see as
  69. offense
  70. sooner or later.  But I think it is a bad idea to say that NESFA meant
  71. no
  72. offense years ago when it took actions it knew full well would offend
  73. many people.
