- American slang c.1930 ... skank* (also skag, scag) n. a homely
- girl or woman. During the first world war
- skag was used for "cigarette butt" by
- the American soldiers. By the early sixties
- skag/skank was used by American teens as
- "someone or something foolish or insignificant."
- Also, skag was/is used for "heroin" in the
- drug subculture.
