- First to you Ed...do you really need others to explain what a movie is
- about, or what it should mean to you? Movies mean different things to
- different people. Perhaps you should try real hard to figure out "what
- was that" on your own, then maybe you can share your views here, and
- see what others thought as well. Just asking "Explain this movie so I
- don't have to think about it on my own" is a bit lazy.

- And as to you William..._Naked Lunch_ was "light entertainment"???
- I'd hate to see your version of a heavy film.

-
- I don't know who Thompsons is, but I found _Naked Lunch_ to be alot more
- than entertainment and satire.
-
- First and fore-most it was an attempt to bring the thoughts and writings
- of William S. Burroughs (as well as parts of his life) to the screen.
-
- Yes, I found it entertaining, it was so bizarre and surreal in it's vision
- that it made me laugh and smile at many of the scenes. But most importantly
- in my mind this movie was about a writers vision, his inspiration. It seems
- much of Burroughs disturbed thoughts came from his drug use. This movie
- was a view into the fascinating and troubled world of his drug induced
- hallucinacions. We get an inside seat as to what drove his creative process.
-
- In fact when you put this movie together with _Barton Fink_ and _Kafka_
- you have a brilliant (IMHO) trilogy of what makes a writer tick, all told
- in hauntingly beautiful and bizarre analogies.
