- as an added note, pedro almodovar has been accused has been considered
- misgoynist because of his treatment of women's characters in his films.
- i haven't seen any peter greenaway films, so i can't say why greenaway
- is offensive to women (or even if he is).
-
- i *can* say i have seen two almodovar films, 'what have i done to
- deserve this?' and 'women on the verge of a nervous breakdown', and
- thought that the women characters were very strong characters, not
- offensively portrayed. actually, i thought 'women on the...' showed
- the male characters to be rather weaker and less stable than the
- women. i haven't seen 'tie me up! tie me down!', though, which was
- the film that caused the most feminist outrage. perhaps, as a woman,
- my perspective on almodovar might change; i'll have to rent it. (and
- these greenaway films that people are getting so fired up about).
