- Starting Saturday, I engaged in an orgy of new movie viewing with my family.
-
- Forever Young: A must for Mel or Jamie fans. Nicely photographed, somewhat
- illogical but very sweet movie about a man who is frozen for 50 years and
- attempts to rebuild his life when he finally awakes. Some lovely scenes
- between Mel and Elijiah Wood. There is a genuinely stupid
- chase scene at the end of the film, but the movie is otherwise worthwhile.
- I think this may be a little better than Late for Dinner because the characters
- in Late for Dinner didn't engage me in quite the same way. However, Late for
- Dinner didn't have the required chase scene, which I thought was great.
-
- A Muppets Christmas Carol: A completely delightlful adaptation of the
- traditional Dickens tale. Michael Caine makes a great Scrooge, and Kermit is a
- perfect Bob Cratchit. Very funny, cute songs and it may be more fun for the
- adults in the audience than for the kids.
-
- Leap of Faith: This movie is about 90% sharp and completely falls into
- maudalin cliche at the end. Liam Neesen's mysterious accent is unintentionally
- funny throughout. Steve Martin gives a fine performance and the movie provides
- interesting insights into how "faith healing" works.
-
- Patriot Games: This movie is about 95% sharp and falls apart a little during
- the climax. I wish I'd seen it on the big screen. Harrison Ford & Anne Archer
- give GREAT performances.
-
- For contrast, we also rented Scrooged on Saturday night, which I enjoyed
- more the second time around.
