- Generally, I think accents are irrelevent in playing a role. It is your
- interpretation of the character that is important not the accent. If you
- are having trouble with an accent then spending too much of your energy on
- trying to get it right can take away from the rest of your performance.

- However, accents are good if you can get them right. But if you can't, don't
- do them as they can it sounds really stupid and will distract your
- audience, especially those from the region that you are trying to imitate.
- I am from Texas, and it really drives me up the wall when I see actors
- trying to get it right. This happens quite often and even the best actors
- are poor imitators. Mostly they try to do a deep Southern "Gone with
- the Wind" accent, which is not right for Texas. It leaves off the "Twang"
