  17. It WAS real, though it wasn't done especially for the movie.  The
  18. local religious customs of that area of the Philipines included a
  19. ceremony with the sacrifice of a cow (water buffalo?  Well, some kind
  20. of bovine), and Coppola caught the ceremony on film to add spice to
  21. his movie.  It wasn't staged just for the movie, though; Francis just
  22. happened to be in the right place at the right time.
