  21. One of the reasons his accent was so poor was this movie had *tremendous*
  22. problems in it's filming and development.  It might have been the director's
  23. wish for him to keep the accent, but I agree it was pretty poor.

  25. But we really can't label Kevin Costner a "BAD ACTOR" based on a poor showing
  26. in one film.  Yes, he was no Errol Flynn (but who is?), but Costner had
  27. a certain amount of charisma in _RH:PoT_ and even did a few decent scenes.

  29. As to who I would have rather seen as Robin Hood...Patrick Bergin was 
  30. excellent in the competing "Robin Hood" project that was pushed off the
  31. big screen, and had to instead be made for TV.  (But is available on 
  32. video!!!)

  34. Kevin Kline would have been good in the role.  (Any more news the possibility 
  35. of Kline starring in a remake of Flynn's _Captain Blood_?)

  37. Julian Sands has the flair, talent, charisma, and accent to have made a 
  38. better Robin Hood.

  40. Possibly Gabriel Byrne...he was just so great in _Miller's Crossing_ and 
  41. _Gothic_...maybe he's a bit too brooding.  But at least he's British.

  46. The orginal statment (which you can certainly ignore, but I wanted to get
  47. back on track) was that he was overrated as an ACTOR, not whether he stands
  48. above others...I say he is a fine actor, not one of the best, but certainly
  49. not overrated.
