-
- One of the reasons his accent was so poor was this movie had *tremendous*
- problems in it's filming and development. It might have been the director's
- wish for him to keep the accent, but I agree it was pretty poor.
-
- But we really can't label Kevin Costner a "BAD ACTOR" based on a poor showing
- in one film. Yes, he was no Errol Flynn (but who is?), but Costner had
- a certain amount of charisma in _RH:PoT_ and even did a few decent scenes.
-
- As to who I would have rather seen as Robin Hood...Patrick Bergin was
- excellent in the competing "Robin Hood" project that was pushed off the
- big screen, and had to instead be made for TV. (But is available on
- video!!!)
-
- Kevin Kline would have been good in the role. (Any more news the possibility
- of Kline starring in a remake of Flynn's _Captain Blood_?)
-
- Julian Sands has the flair, talent, charisma, and accent to have made a
- better Robin Hood.
-
- Possibly Gabriel Byrne...he was just so great in _Miller's Crossing_ and
- _Gothic_...maybe he's a bit too brooding. But at least he's British.

-
- The orginal statment (which you can certainly ignore, but I wanted to get
- back on track) was that he was overrated as an ACTOR, not whether he stands
- above others...I say he is a fine actor, not one of the best, but certainly
- not overrated.

-
- And I'd counter that with _Bull Durham_ and _Dances With Wolves_ *easily*
- making up for _Robin Hood_ and _The Bodyguard_.
