  20. I believe you have this backwards.  There is only one Blockbuster in West
  21. Lafayette and they do NOT carry NC-17 movies but they DO carry unrated
  22. movies.  If I'm not mistaken this is consistent with the policy in most
  23. other Blockbuster stores across the country.

  25. I believe Blockbuster doesn't carry NC-17 films because of "pressure" by
  26. conservatives to get rid of "pornographic" films.  Ironically if these
  27. people had actually done their homework they would have lobbied against
  28. the unrated films rather than the NC-17 films.  What they've done is
  29. succeeded in banning the more artistic explicit films while keeping the
  30. films which exploit sex and violence (this is in general, I'm sure you could
  31. find contradictions to this statement).  Thus "Henry & June" is banned but
  32. "Takin if Off" is still on the shelf.

  34. Also, NC-17 is a rating that few movies get so the effect of banning NC-17
  35. movies was minimal.  Normally movies that would be rated NC-17 trim down to
  36. an R rating for movie release and then release the full or possibly even more
  37. explicit unrated version in video).
