  19.     It seems that my original post brought more questions than
  20. answers. So, I'va decided to include the original article.

  23. from the game; opening sequence with TARDIS with blue and black
  24. background, and a scene from the game, 7th Doctor, K9, and an Ogron.)

  26. DALEK ATTACK

  28.     At September's big Doctor Who convention in Coventry, PanoptiCon,
  29. Alternative Software unleashed an early version of their new Doctor Who
  30. computer game, DALEK ATTACK on an unsuspecting public!
  31.     Like most arcade-type games, the new adventure is set on various
  32. levels and pits the Doctor (choose from Patrick Troughton, Tom Baker, or
  33. Slyvester McCoy, complete with individual title sequences!) against Davros
  34. and his marauding army of Daleks, Ogrons, and Robomen. Companions available
  35. to assist the computerised Time Lord are Ace, a UNIT solder or, K9.
  36.     The game travels from London to Paris, New York, Tokyo, and even Skaro
  37. itself and involves the characters collecting the various tools and weapons
  38. needed to thwart the Daleks. At PanopitiCon self-confessed computer game
  39. illiterate DWM editor Gary Russell spent many fruitless hours desperately
  40. attempting not to get blown to pieces by aggressive Ogrons and when on one
  41. occasion he finally blew up two Daleks, he was dismayed to learn that he had
  42. only completed a fraction of the adventure! Needless to say younger and more
  43. experienced folk were soon zapping their way around the game. "It's brillant"
  44. said Matthew Lewis of Harpenden, whilst Luke Joesph and Sue Reynolds from
  45. Liverpool reckoned it was "one of the very best we've played. Better than
  46. the Turtles! with far more realistic graphics- the characters and monsters
  47. really look like who they're meant to be!"
  48.     The reaction from the PanoptiCon attendees was very important to
  49. Alternative Software. Sales Manager David Watkins was overjoyed at the 
  50. positive response the game received and was surprised how many stopped off
  51. to play it. "The response was quite amazing," he said,"it totally surpassed
  52. our expectations."
  53.     DALEK ATTACK can be played as either a one person (Doctor) or
  54. two-person (Doctor and Companion) game and comes in two formats; a 16 bit
  55. version at (** I don't have a pound note sign **) #16.99 and a cheaper 8 bit
  56. version at #7.99. It will be available on most home computer formats,
  57. including IBM PC, Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amstrad, Atari ST and Amiga.
  58.     Dalek Attack is to be launched on November 29th, just after the
  59. show's Twenty-Ninth anniversary and to help celebrate, in the next DWM
  60. you can win not only copies of the game for the system of your choice
  61. but our first prize... well, just wait and see!
