  21. We know it existed for "Battlefield" which is probably sometime in the
  22. mid-1990s.
  23. The UNIT Special by DWM suggests rather convincingly that UNIT may have
  24. been actually disbanded by Thatcher and Reagan during the mid-80s but
  25. reformed after certain events like Mondas' arrival showed just how important
  26. they were.

  28. With all the "intervention" that seems to be needed in the world these
  29. days after the end of the Cold War (Somalia, Bosnia, etc.), would you
  30. people think that some sort of real-life UNIT is now a possibility?
  31. United Nations Intervention Taskforce?  A real military body set up along
  32. the same nationality lines (i.e. local control usually but Geneva in charge
  33. in emergencies, etc.) to do the sorts of things we're doing now in Somalia
  34. and we're talking about doing in Bosnia.  
  35. If such a thing were to be proposed (and Clinton has talked about doing this),
  36. I think we should at least write some letters encouraging its name to be
  37. some permutation of the letters U, N, I, and T.  After all, "Who" did it
  38. first....   :)  (big smiley, but this would still be cool, wouldn't it?)
