- We've stayed at the Polynesian, the Floridian, the Dolphin, and
- the Beach Club in various trips to WDW. When our daughter was young
- (mostly MK age til about 9) our favorite was the Polynesian, which
- had all the advantages you listed. She loved the swimming and convienence
- to MK made it great.
-
- We stayed at the floridian once when the Polynesian was booked. And
- you speak of snooty - at the time they lent you nice terrycloth robes
- with your room so you wouldn't feel the need to parade around in
- beach atire!
-
- THen as a family we became EPCOT/MGM oriented so we stayed at the Dolphin.
- Too big, too ugly, to business oriented. Its a conference center which
- happens to be in central florida next to EPCOT.
-
- Our last 3 trips have been to Beach club. Yes it is a bit more
- formal than Polynesian. I think this is for two reasons 1) they
- do run conferences out of them and 2) since it is next to epcot
- the clientele is a bit older. I was pretty aghast when I went out
- to the pool and saw these people on the terrace in back in suits
- talking on cellular phones but I figured out that is their problem.
-
- I guess my only suggestion is remember that wherever you go it is still
- Disney. The only place I know which has a dress code in a hotel
- is Victoria and Alberts. We spent the better part of the day lamenting
- about how awful it would be to be dressed in a suit and tie in a meeting
- room talking about sales projections when everyone else was in a
- bathing suit splashing away. You should consider it your duty to make
- them feel bad with your informalness.
