- Ratings and artwork are broken up into separate ratings, with a scale
- of zero to four stars for each, four stars being top of the line, and
- zero stars meaning I could do a better job, and less offensively as
- well to the reader.

- This issue focues on Erica, the girlfriend of Arnie, one of the
- protangonists in Hepcats. Last issues we learned that her name really
- wasn't Erica, and that she came from an abused home. She had also
- tried to commit suicide, and this issue is a flashback to the events
- leading up to and including her attempt to kill herself. No real new
- revelations, except there are some new insights into the events
- around her attempt, like the fact that she wanted to fail at the
- attempt, to be rescued.
-
- Its a very warm and sad story at the same time. We see the motives of
- someone who wants to die, but not totally, and the mixture of motives
- comes out along the way. It also shows the false front a person who
- is contemplating suicide can put up. Dave Sim in Cerebus has stated
- that people die many times before the final death, and indeed Erica's
- attempt kills off the false persona she had created after fleeing her
- family. Next issue we learn about her childhood and the true story
- about what happen when she ran away.
-
- This comic is serious and moving and deals with very real and tragic
- issues. The fact that the people in this comic have animal features
- is totally irrelevant to the comic. Fans of Omaha should be able to
- go right into this series and be sure of entertainment. Martin Wagner
- is an independent comic book creator who should be bought and read.
-
- "My lungs-- which had been threatening to go off like two bombs--
- went off like two bombs... the precious air escaping in a blast of
- pure, white pain."
