- What's the big objection to home-schooling, anyway?
-
- t
- You're never going to find so many people willing and able to home-school
- their children that this will subvert the idea of public education.
-
- There seems to be an idea that people can simply keep their children
- at home and claim to be "educating" them when nothing of the sort
- is happening.
-
- All states -- don't they? -- have regulations about credentials
- and tests for educational levels, *especially* for home-schooled
- kids.
-
- If I demur at any aspect of home-schooling, it would be on Mark's
- ground of insufficient socialization.
-
-
- Most articles I've read about successful home-schooling have been about
- families who have 3+ children, and the parents seem to feel that
- sibling contact is all the socialization their children need.
-
- I'm not sure about that, but then I was an only kid.
