- This is hyperbole.

- I do not feel "threatened" by homeschooling, or by voucher systems,
- or by any other like-minded trend, and I have no problem with
- "power" being given to the "individual".

- What I do have a problem with is the large fraction of Americans
- who are willing to throw in the towel and say the public
- education will never work, either for their own kids or
- for kids in general. I think they are way, way off base on
- this; and as this trend continues, education in this country will
- continue to deteriorate.

- And what really bugs me is that the people who are killing
- public education by pulling their kids out of public
- schools have the audacity to blame the problem on
- "liberal educators with their social agendas" and
- other imagined demons.
