- Is anyone familiar with K.C. Constantine's books, set in the fictional
- Western Pennsylvania town of Rocksburg (read Greensburg)? His hero(?),
- the half-Italian half-Serbian police chief Mario Balzic, evolves (as
- does his family) throughout the series. Plus wonderful working-class
- characters. The books are very different, from the more light _Upon
- Some Midnights Clear_ (good holiday reading), to the very dark _Sunshine
- Enemies_. A friend who is off to France for a year's post-doc work,
- took all his books along to remind her of home. I've gotten my hands on
- all but one; oddly enough most of them are out of print in the U.S. but
- _are_ available in the U.K. I'd be interested in hearing if there are
- other fans of Constantine out there. This is a psuedonym, by the way;
- apparently he guards his privacy jealously. Rumor has it that Universal
- owns the rights to the books but has no plans to do anything with them.
- This might be a good idea since they are more about the ideas and
- characters than about plot.
