  25. Yes, that's a lot of books, but not beyond the bounds of credibility.
  26. I think my own total for this year is around 130 or 140, but I've been
  27. reading a higher proportion of history and other nonfiction and less
  28. lightweight genre stuff than I've done in past years when my total
  29. has also topped 200.

  31.     First I felt good after Jan assured me that she had been
  32.     a) unemployed and b) laid up with a broke foot. Hmmm, that's
  33.     not going to work as a sentence that conveys my meaning is it?
  34.     I felt relieved that it was exceptional circumstances that
  35.     allowed Jan to read 220 books; however, now along comes Sandra and
  36.     voila - it isn't exceptional circumstances it's an exceptional
  37.     person or a dedicated person, or something.

  39. (If you're the sort of person who can check out half a dozen mysteries
  40. from the library and read them all in a single weekend, or who tries
  41. to set aside an hour or two for reading every evening, all those
  42. books can add up pretty quickly.)

  44.     Although I don't read many mysteries any more I do set aside
  45.     nightly periods for uninterrupted reading and it still doesn't
  46.     add up to those kinds of numbers. And I know Mike Morris has
  47.     already posted something I haven't seen yet that details how
  48.     he read 1492 books last year (in honor of Columbus).
