- I've had an eventful r.a.b. year. I read some 220
- books [....]
-
- Whoa, hold on just a minute. 220? That's incredible, I am
- in awe.
-
- Yes, that's a lot of books, but not beyond the bounds of credibility.
- I think my own total for this year is around 130 or 140, but I've been
- reading a higher proportion of history and other nonfiction and less
- lightweight genre stuff than I've done in past years when my total
- has also topped 200.
-
- First I felt good after Jan assured me that she had been
- a) unemployed and b) laid up with a broke foot. Hmmm, that's
- not going to work as a sentence that conveys my meaning is it?
- I felt relieved that it was exceptional circumstances that
- allowed Jan to read 220 books; however, now along comes Sandra and
- voila - it isn't exceptional circumstances it's an exceptional
- person or a dedicated person, or something.
-
- (If you're the sort of person who can check out half a dozen mysteries
- from the library and read them all in a single weekend, or who tries
- to set aside an hour or two for reading every evening, all those
- books can add up pretty quickly.)
-
- Although I don't read many mysteries any more I do set aside
- nightly periods for uninterrupted reading and it still doesn't
- add up to those kinds of numbers. And I know Mike Morris has
- already posted something I haven't seen yet that details how
- he read 1492 books last year (in honor of Columbus).
