- In general, book club sales can contribute to bestseller status before a
- title hits the stores. That's how titles hit the top before they have
- been out very long. Also, the front matter (title page, copyright notice,
- introduction, etc.) is printed as a separate "signature," often numbered
- in roman numerals so that last minute changes can be made without
- extensive revisions and foreign editions and new printings can show the
- current status of an author or even a publisher who has changed its logo
- or name.
