- As an infrequent poster, and a frequent reader/lurker, I offer
- a modest proposal. Why not split into:
-
- rec.arts.books and rec.arts.booklovers (approximate title)
-
- This seems to be the crux of the issue. Fido is the archetypal
- book lover, and anything he would want to discuss would easily
- fit into the appropriate matter for r.a.bl, as would discussions
- of spinster societies and Rabelaisian discussions of internal
- plumbing.
-
- R.a.b., on the other hand, would be devoted to the discussion of
- books and books only. A discussion might start on r.a.b. and
- move over to r.a.bl, once the topic moved off books proper. Since
- r.a.b. would have strict guidelines (enforced by Jack Campin and
- others who actually believe in such stuff), the number of messages
- per day would be relatively small. R.a.bl would be free to wander
- off on any topic that members thought interesting and/or amusing.
