- I question the assumptions behind that question. I'm not sure where
- "New Age" comes in, but the implication of the question is that these
- cultures have a spirituality that ours lacks, and that we are in some
- way harming them if we try to make good our lack by adopting elements
- of theirs. Why should either be credible?

- It hasn't been long since we ended a protracted discussion, one
- side of which criticized our culture for borrowing so little from
- outside the mainstream. It seems that a successful culture is
- something to aplogize for, one way or the other.
