-
- Yes, in equally varying quality. But a good solid shelf works just as well,
- if not better, unless you have to move your whole collection often.
-
- More importantly, there are a few things to remember when storing tapes of
- any kind:
-
- * Keep them in a dry, dust-free area. Nothing will kill a tape faster than
- collecting dust or moisture; and a combination is devestating.
-
- * Store the tape standing on a narrow edge. Stand tapes on any of the 1"
- narrow edges, not "flat". This keeps the tape inside from resting on it's
- edge, which could cause curling and crumpling.
-
- * Fast forward a tape to the end before rewinding it. This helps the tape
- wind on the spools evenly, which helps protect the edges from curling or
- crumpling in storage or if the tape is accidentally dropped.
-
- * Fast forward and rewind tapes that don't get watched often a couple of
- times a year. This will help keep the tape from stretching or sticking to
- itself.
