- I thought the last movie was pretty good, because it logically closed the
- love triangle. I think most people complain about the last movie because
- it is tragic, while all of the other movies were romantic comedies. But
- when you think how long the love triangle have existed, a happy ending
- would have been difficult, and in my opinion, inappropriate.
-
- Hikaru have been in love with Kyosuke all through high school, and is
- obivious to the fact that Kyosuke is in love with Madoka. Kyosuke is
- unable to mustered up the courage to tell Hikaru throughout the series
- and OAV because he is afraid of hurting her feelings. Madoka is
- unwilling to intervene because I guess she wants Kyosuke to make the final
- decision. Kyosuke should have closed the matter rather than letting it
- dragged on, or Madoka should have intervened, but no one done anything so
- the situation exploded in the final movie.
-
- As for the anti-romantic ending, I guess it's because as the movie ended,
- all three character put their own life behind, and start everything with
- a fresh slate, but Kyosuke experienced regret.
-
- But hey, it's only a movie. It could have been worse. The movie could have
- ended with a chain suicide ala Romeo and Juilette, or one member could have
- snap and murder the other two ala Fatal AAttraction. Neither ending would
- have been appropriate, and I don't think a happy ending would have fit either,
- so I think the final movie was pretty well done.
