  26. Bingo, first and foremost the outward appearance counts. If people run
  27. themselves ragged on the workings, I consider that a small price. I
  28. most likely will be working for Expo 93, and I expect a lot of
  29. hardships (running a local chapter of Cal-Animage with a few other
  30. people I KNOW how traumatic just THAT can be) behind the scenes, but if
  31. we can carry off a good outward appearance (which I believe we can),
  32. then the con will be a success.

  38. Okay, I would like the people who are running AA to come forward after
  39. their con next year and tell their tales of praise (TRUTHFULLY) of how
  40. well the con went for their staff.

  42. ALL conventions that I have been involved with (locally in just a very
  43. small capacity) have been near killers on the staff, because some
  44. things will crop up unexpectedly. Nobody is perfect, and cons will
  45. always create friction amongst people who work on it.

  47. Maybe I'm a masochist, and I look forward to being worked like a dog,
  48. and I know I will most likely gripe a bit about being worn out during
  49. the con, but what it will come down to is that afterwards I will look
  50. at my achievements proudly and count the con a success. I know I will
  51. be working with a lot of friends (some from the net) and I count that
  52. much more than what looks like a lot of bruised egos (some of who seem
  53. too lazy to drive the distance from SJ to SF to help run a con).
