- In his post, "MegaZone23, Organization: WPI USAF -- United Society
- of Animation Fans" says:
-
- >Many of the staff stayed.
- Since you make such a definitive statement, you must have some figures.
- Please back up your statements with facts.
-
- >Being the way I am, ie I don't give a whit about the rules, I let myself
-
- >'backstage' at AX'92 and saw the ways the then AC'93 promoters...
- Who did you see?
-
- >were begging staff away from AX'93. Personally I feel that running
- >AA'93 as it has been is unethical and malicious.
- In what way? How have they violated ethics? According to Mr. Medinnus,
- Mike Tatsugawa had full knowledge of their formation from the beginning,
- prior to any announcements. In fact, although Mr. Medinnus gives it no
- weight in his post, apparently MT broke an agreement about announcing.
- AnimeAmerica formed after MT would not honor the agreement settlement
- that HE HIMSELF MADE to have only one con, with one of his own BOD people
-
- as Chairman. It seems that someone indeed has been unethical, but not
- AC or AA. But still, what other actions have AA taken that are immoral
- or unethical? And, please, be specific and site your sources for
- credibility.
-
- >And this is apart from the time I spent with Mike.
- The inference here is that you spent a lot of time with Mike, and are
- presumably friends with him. In my opinion, that makes your observations
- biased.
-
- >The supporters of AA'93 have continuously slandered Mike and the AX
- staff.
- One of the requirements of slander is that what is being said be untrue.
- Please tell us what has been said that is slanderous, and by whom? While
- you're at it, perhaps you could find out who spread all the malicious
- rumors
- about David Medinnus when he was Chairman of AnimeCon '93?
-
- >They leap to conclusions and fling mud, while Mike remains above that.
- See my earlier statement above, and several past posts from Our Email
- Otaku. Not only did he fling mud, he rented a dump-truck.
-
- >He has gone up a great deal in my eyes for not sustaining a flame war.
- It is hard to argue when your facts don't hold water, or when Greg
- Scanlan
- has tapes from the AC/AX negotiations which contradict them.
-
- If you are going to make definite statements which slam a convention,
- their staff, and their supporters, please supply facts instead of general
-
- accusatory statements. And please have the courage to at least take
- responsibility for your accusations by posting your name.
-
- BTW, concerning financial disclosure by 501c-* corporations; their
- bylaws,
- meeting minutes, and financial statements are all documents open to
- inspection,
- but there is no requirement concerning public disclosure. In short,
- non-profit
- corporations do not have to publish their records, but must supply them
- if
- requested to do so (presumably by a registered letter accompanied with an
- SASE).
- Other disclosures may be required by the organization's bylaws, but no
- other
- disclosures are manditory.
