  14. I've been trying to stay out of the fan politics so far, and plan to
  15. keep trying.  When I've been talking to people from either BOD it's
  16. been to try to get them to put it together into one con.  Yes, I'm on
  17. AA staff, but it isn't because of the politics.  The meetings are just
  18. closer for me and I only have time to work one con.  I plan to attend
  19. both cons as long as the guests are interesting to me and my money
  20. holds out.

  36. What makes you think that George Greene is "from" Anime America?  Maybe
  37. he is on staff somewhere, I don't know (either), but he certainly isn't
  38. an official representative of AA on the net.  From what he says near
  39. the end of his post, it sounds like he may be a dealer.

  41. Assuming that anyone criticizing one con is representing the other con
  42. is wrong.  Assuming that those using the Clubzen node are all "Anime
  43. America people" is wrong too.

  45. As to Clubzen, My understanding is that it's a public access node.  I
  46. doubt that subscribers have to sign an oath of allegiance to AA.

  48. Probably 90+ % of anime fandom isn't working on either con, but a lot
  49. of them still have opinions and are vocal about them.  Even the staffs
  50. are a bunch of individuals, each with their own opinions and their own
  51. level of willingness to share them.  They aren't under the control of
  52. the con BOD except in the work they do on the con itself.  Neither
  53. staff (or BOD, for that matter) as a whole has been squeaky-clean and
  54. non-politically professional.

  56. The AA staff is spending their time trying to put a good con together,
  57. just like I assume the AE staff is.  If individuals, whether on either
  58. staff or not, starts flaming, flame back at THEM if you have to, not
  59. at the other con.  I'd suggest that the best response would be to
  60. tell them not to waste bandwidth.  All the personal insults and
  61. accusations just make a bad situation worse.

  63. BTW:  Though this is a response to Greg's post, the message is meant
  64. for anyone who's making the same assumptions.

  67. privilege.  All flames directed at me will be cheerfully ignored
  68. unless I decide not to.
