  11. Although United Airlines is the OFFICIAL air carrier of Anime Expo, I
  12. found a neat way for all of you fans out there to save money (if you
  13. act quickly).  This strategy applies to any convention that you may be
  14. going to in most sections of the West and South Coast.  Southwest Airlines
  15. is currently running their 2 for 1 savings program.  What this means
  16. is that 2 individuals travel for the price of one.  So if I was
  17. traveling from L.A. and the SW price is $58 for a round-trip from LAX
  18. to Oakland International, my buddy come with me and I pay $29 for the
  19. round-trip.  Same applies in New Orleans or Chicago or anywhere else
  20. that they fly to.  The savings are much larger too!  This also
  21. probably means that you can split the hotel costs down the middle and
  22. save the extra $$$ for the dealers' room.  If you are particularly
  23. generous, then just allow a friend to tag along with you to the
  24. convention.  The catch though is that Southwest will only fly into
  25. major airline hubs, so that means that Oakland and San Francisco
  26. International Airports are to only airports in the Bay Area that they
  27. fly to.  Fans might want to use RAA or JAMO to find out which other
  28. fans are traveling from their region so that they can arrange for
  29. these savings.  Anime Expo had attendees from 38 states plus Puerto
  30. Rico and the District of Columbia.  Odds are that there is another
  31. attendee not too far away from you.  Southwest only flies as far
  32. Northeast as Chicago and as far Southwest as New Orleans, so you New
  33. Yorkers may not get too much in the way of savings.  Our travel Agent
  34. at Ladera Travel told me that these fares will probably be sold out
  35. for the weekend of Expo by February or March.  She also told me that
  36. these fares are fully refundable, so there is no penalty for buying
  37. when your plans are still not set yet!  If you want Ladera Travel to
  38. compare the Southwest Fares for your region against the discounts
  39. offered by United Airlines, just call them at (213)-772-1511.

  46. P.S. You Anime America attendees out there can take advantagoe of this
  47. deal too, but will have to fly into Oakland, BART down to Fremont,
  48. take a bus down to light rail and take the light rail to Santa Clara.
  49. (I think that there is a bus that goes there from BART, but I'm not
  50. quite sure.)
