- First, I must credit the appropriate sources....
-
- The Original Macquarium was designed by Andy Inhatko (of MacUser column
- fame), although I had the same idea at about the same time as he... I
- simply don't have a column that forced the realization of it...
- Anyway, his Macquarium treatise was very funny, and many of the
- suggestions helped with *my* version, so kudos to Andy.
-
- For those of you who do *not* know what I am talking about, and might be
- so inclined to make a useful abode for our fishy friends from a
- discarded Mac Plus shell, contact Andy on the Internet at
- andy@world.std.com or ZiffNet/Mac as 72511,204 or America Online as
- andyi. The instructions are free (but copyrighted).

- My aquarium turned out to hold 2.3 gallons (plus rocks). I use a small
- Penn-Plax cartridge filter, and one small air stone. I have three White
- Clouds and had :-( a Khuli Loach - actually two, the original, and a
- replacement, both died. I took a small teraium heater (external) and places
- it a few inches below the tank (there's an air space) to keep it 70-75
- degrees F when the building is closed (nights/weekends) ,and don't use the
- heater during working hours when teh heats cranked up to 75 anyway.
- This seems ok, but I'm afraid the temp fluctuates too muc hfor the Khuli
- loach who is a bottom feeder.
-
- Q - does anyone know of a good *small* (and I mean s-m-a-l-l) aquarium
- heater? the smallest I've seen is the test-tube looking kind, and is 6" long
- and sticks up out of the tank. Two problems: I have NO clearance above the
- tank (the Mac shell) and not much room in the water for that matter. What I
- would have to have is a self-contained tube-type no more than 3-4" long and
- ideally about a half-inch in diameter... with thermostat, of course.
-
- Thanks.
