-
- Ok, here are some answers.
-
- INCABLOC refers to the type of shock resistant jewels used in watches
- of the time. They require a special tool to remove and insert, but
- are a far bit easier to service that jewels that are set directly
- into the plates.
-
- As for the winding at the same time every day, this was not super-
- stition, it was recommended for a couple of reasons:
-
- 1. Winding at the same time every day will typically provide
- for better watch regulation, as the mainspring tension is
- never allowed to drop below a certain level. In other
- words, if you let you watch wind down to far, it might
- start running erratically, hence it is better to wind
- it predictably.
-
- Actually, this is more true for older watches, and obviously
- does not apply to automatic watches.
-
- 2. If you are constantly winding your watch tight, this will
- place undesireable tension on the mainspring, potentially
- leading to premature breakage. Once again, not an issue
- for automatic watches.
-
- I hope this answers your questions.
-
- You didn't say what kind of watch you bought. I'd have loved to
- provided an opinion as to it's quality!
