  21. Granted, of course.  There are problems with the long 3 month
  22. period, and there are problems with the 15 day suggestion.  The
  23. question is which those problems are and which do we prefer.  The
  24. point I am trying to make is that we should discuss whether the
  25. advantages of a shorter period outweigh the disadvantages or vice
  26. versa.

  28. One of the advantages of the three month period is that it is the
  29. current practice (= healthy resistance to change), and it certaily
  30. has others, too.  But do they balance the disadvantages like
  31. increasing the probalility of persistent duplication, and the
  32. disruption caused to the replacing newsgroup?
  33.  
  34. Please let's try to look at this analytically, if we can, since
  35. issues like these are not simple right / wrong situations, but
  36. rather balancing the pros and the cons.
