- CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
-
- Reasoning about Action & Change
-
- Workshop at IJCAI-93
- August 29 -- September 3, 1993,
- Chamb'ery, France
-
-
-
- The theme of the workshop is the discussion of foundations of
- `Reasoning about Action & Change'. Since the topic is fairly broad we
- are not interested in special research papers of his field, but rather
- intend to focus on fundamental issues which may reach from a critical
- assessment of current research trends in this field to guidelines and
- perspectives for future research.
-
- Possible topics of contributions might be the following, however, the
- list is not comprehensive:
-
- * Which requirements must be fulfilled by a logic
- for Reasoning about Action & Change?
- * Normative models of change.
- * Foundational approach to revision.
- * Revision versus update.
- * Revision and temporal reasoning
- * Conditional logic & change.
- * Action & change.
- * Syntactical versus semantical views of change.
- * Abduction & change.
- * Nonmonotonicity of change
-
-
- The duration of the workshop will be one full day.
- For each talk will be allocated 30 minutes (15 min for the talk
- and 15 min for discussion).
- The workshop will end with a general discussion of 30-60 minutes in
- which the main ideas which have come up shall be summarized and
- discussed.
-
- Authors are invited to submit 4 copies of an extended abstract
- (4-5 pages) in English.
- The submitted abstracts will be refereed by the workshop organisors.
- Copies of the accepted abstracts will be distributed at the workshop.
-
- Attendance to the workshop will be limited to around 35 people.
- People interested in attending without intention to give a talk have
- to submit a short 'position paper' stating the reasons of their
- interest in the workshop. On the basis of these position papers the
- organisors will decide who of the non-speakers will be admitted.
- (Rejected submitted abstracts are automatically treated as 'position
- papers'.)
-
- Both abstracts and position papers should include an exact address and
- an e-mail address.
-
- We invited already the following speakers to give a talk at the workshop:
-
- Peter G"ardenfors (Lund, Sweden)
- Remo Pareschi (ECRC, Germany)
- Alberto Mendelzon (Toronto, Canada)
- Yoav Shoham (Stanford, USA)
-
-
- Important Dates:
-
- Deadline for submissions: March 1
- Notification of acceptance: April 1
- Final version of abstract: June 1
-
- Since the time for reviewing is rather short the deadline for
- submissions will be rather strict.
