- MODELLING OF COMBUTION AND TURBULENCE
- =====================================
-
- 10 - 14 January 1993
- supported by the COMETT programme
-
-
- GENERAL INFORMATIONS
- --------------------
-
- Recent years have seen a dramatic increase of interest in the study of
- combustion, driven by the continuing search for improved performance
- and economy in both jet engines and internal combustion engines.
- Impressive advances in both numerical modelling and experimental
- techniques have made it possible to achieve a better understanding of
- the fundamental aspects of the combustion phenomenon and have increased
- the reliability of the design phase for practical applications. In this
- frame, the aim of the course is to review the state-of-the-art in the
- field, the problems which remain to be solved and the advances to be
- expected in the near future. Following a short introduction to the
- physics of combustion, the course will review the most recent
- advances in modelling and numerical simulations, as well as specific
- problems of relevant pratical interest such as droplet combustion
- and supersonic combustion .
- Due to its nature and the problems discussed, this lecture series
- addresses itself both to researchers already interested in the
- fundamental and pratical aspects of combustion and to young graduates
- entering this domain.
- Lectures will be given in English and printed notes will be distributed
- to participants at registration on the first day.
- The Course Directors are Dr Champion ( URA 193/CNRS) from ENSMA of
- Poitiers, France, and Professor D.Vandromme ( URA 230/CNRS) from
- INSA of Rouen, France.
