  24. General Information:

  26. A current view in the research community is that next generation
  27. information and systems  will be complex, intelligent,
  28. cooperative and will utilize various multi-media technologies.
  29.  
  30. The goal of this workshop is to provide a forum for discussing
  31. issues related to the realization of these next generation systems.
  32. These issues include but are not limited to:
  33. - Architecture of NGITS systems.
  34. - Paradigms for the design and implementation of NGITS (software
  35.   repositories, application generators, and object orientation).
  36. - Knowledge and Data management issues in NGITS.
  37. - Multi-Media technologies.
  38. - Intelligent Information Systems.
  39. - Cooperation and Collaboration in NGITS.
  40. - Computer Vision and its use in NGITS.
  41. - The user's perspectives: NGITS interfaces.
  42. - Inter-Disciplinary Research required for NGITS.
  43. - Industrial Applications of NGITS.
  44.  
  45. The workshop will feature keynote speakers (Professor John
  46. Mylopoulos, University of Toronto, and Professor Robert Haralick,
  47. University of Washington), paper presentations, and panel
  48. sessions. Attendence will be limited to authors of accepted papers
  49. and a limited number of participants based on their position statements.
  50.  
  51. Consequently, we solicit submissions of two types:
  52.  
  53. - Research papers (extended abstracts limited to 10 double-spaced  pages)
  54. - Position statements (limited to 3 double-spaced  pages).
  55.  
  56. All accepted research papers will appear in the conference proceedings.
  57. Selected papers will be published (subject to an expedited review of
  58. a full paper) in a special issue of the Journal of Intelligent Information
  59. Systems. Pending formal commitments, funds may be available for travel
  60. and/or lodging support.

  64. In order to promote the paperless society,  we shall strive to handle
  65. the submission and review processes by electronic mail.  All electronic
  66. contributions (latex, tex, or postscript) should be submitted to:
