- OBJECTIVE:
- ----------
- An entry to junior level SOFTWARE ENGINEER, where my skills and
- creativity can be effectively used and fostered.
-
- EDUCATION:
- ---------
- Present - part -time student of some local schools in Bay Area.
- M.S. in Computer Science, May 1992
- University of Wisconsin -Madison
- M.A. in Mathematics, May 1990
- University of Wisconsin -Madison
- B.S. in Mathematics, Minor in Computer Science, June 1987

- SCHOOL PROJECT SUMMARY:
- -----------------------
- Unix Network Programming
- * A timer equipped client-server model - Utilized 4.3 BSD sockets(TCP
- STREAM sockets) to design a pair of independently running processes for
- establishing multiple-client-single-server (with signal handler) inter-
- process communication (IPC).
- * Implemented the X.25 LABP Protocol, which involved link connection (
- creating BSD sockets), link disconnection, data transmission, error
- detection (checksum validation), timeout retransmission of data and flow
- control. Designed and coded in 3,000 lines C on IBM RT.
- * Defined a set of Remote Procedure Calls (remote database access,
- daytime service, file listing etc) with Sun's rpcgen. Work was done on
- Sun Sparc.
-
- Graphical User Interface
- * Implemented a small text editor with OSF/MOTIF widget set in C on
- SONY NEWS 1850. Features includes file operations (new, open, save, save
- as, close, exit), edit operations (cut, paste, copy, clear), navigations
- (jump to line, jump to top, jump to bottom), search and find certain
- strings.
- * Currently working on a drawing program.
-
- Object-Oriented Programming
- * Implemented a set of data structures by fully utilizing object-
- oriented features of C++.
- * Provided a set of library routines for generating random numbers based
- on various distributions.
-
- Compilers Design
- * Assisted by Lex and Yacc, utilized bottom-up parsing (LALR),
- implemented subset of ADA compiler in five phases including scanner,
- parser, type checker, code generator as well as Abstract Syntax Tree and
- Symbol Table structures. Work involved 9,000 lines C targeted to MIPS
- assembler.
-
- Unix System Programming
- * Designed and implemented a mini Unix file and directory system on top
- of a simulated disk in C on IBM RT. Programming issues includes
- management of inodes and data blocks, implemention of file operations (
- read, write, create, delete etc), path searching and directory
- management (mkdir, rmdir, cd etc)
-
- EXPERIENCE:
- ----------
- Research Assistant - Department of Mathematics, National Central
- University , Taiwan 07/87-08/88
- * Used PC-based tools to summarize results of professor's research,
- evaluated student's programming assignment as well as provided standard
- solutions in C, Pascal and 8086 assembly languages. Gained experience
- in DOS and PC programming.
-
- Programmer - HO-SHEN Plastic Company, Taiwan 06/85-05/87
- * Worked on several projects in C on PC to solve liner programming
- problems, did numerical analysis for company's products.
-
