- Dear Potential Employer;
-
- I am a recent Master of Computer Science graduate from the
- University of Manitoba. I am available for immediate employment
- and I am willing to relocate.
-
- I am currently looking for an entry-level position in a high-tech
- company. My main areas of interests are operating-systems, compilers
- and GUI construction. I know that someone with my experience may
- not immediately start into development. I am prepared to start from
- the bottom and work into a development position. I know that with
- my enthusiasm and work ethic I can help the right company improve
- its position in the marketplace.
-
- I have taught myself C++ and object-oriented techniques. I developed
- these while working on my visual programming language. This project
- consists of over 9000 lines of C++ code. Much of my experience is
- in GUI programming on Sun UNIX machines.
-
- My resume is included. If any of my skills are of interest to you,
- do not hesitate to contact me. My permanent address and phone number are
- at the top of this letter.
-
-
- Yours Sincerly

- DETAILED EMPLOYMENT RECORD
-
- 9/92 - DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
- UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA
-
- Created a short document covering the basics of the Singlefish and Multitank
- simulation systems. I helped to develop these two systems in previous
- employment. Described how to build the systems, the overall structure of the
- two simulators and the graphics system which I developed.
-
-
- 9/91 - 12/91 - DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
- UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA
-
- Continued work on a part-time basis on the fish growth system that I worked on
- during my summer employment. Made enhancements to the Multitank fish
- simulator. Added a fish density-meter which measured grams of fish per litre of
- water. Also added postscript printing ability of the graphs.
-
- 5/91 - 7/91 - DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
- UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA
-
- Continued work from previous summer. Worked on graphic charting routines for
- the singlefish growth system. Added routines which plotted line charts for the
- different variables involved in the simulation. Added the ability to print
- these graphs to a postscript printer. Added a logging system to the Multitank
- simulator system. This echoed to a file, command equivalents of the changes to
- the simulation variables performed using the GUI.
-
- 7/90 - 8/90 - DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
- UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA
-
- Helped in the develpment of a system that simulated fish growth in tanks under
- controlled conditions. The system was developed on SUN SPARCstation 1's
- using the C language and the XView tool kit. Majority of my work involved the
- creation of graphics routines using Xlib graphics to display fish distribution
- in each tank using histograms. As well routines to print growth statistics
- textually to a text frame for each tank were added. An interface to control the
- appearances of the graphs was also developed.
-
- 5/87 - 8/87 - MANITOBA TELEPHONE SYSTEM
- NETWORK PLANNING SECTION
-
- Developed programs in Dbase III to aid in the tracking of telephone trunk
- lines. Work involved developing several programs which converted data supplied
- electronically from a mini-computer into Dbase format. Also developed a program
- to convert telephone traffic data supplied in Lotus 1-2-3 format to Dbase
- format. All programs had simple forms type interfaces for ease of use by the
- user. All work was performed on an IBM PC/AT computer running MSDOS.
