- skills and expertise.
-
- Experience Summary:
-
- Over 11 years of experience in organic/medicinal chemistry, modern synthetic
- strategies including chiral methodology, analytical, chromatography and
- spectroscopic techniques. Ten years in pharmaceuticals, six years in nucleic
- acids and five years in proteins, monoclonal antibodies, bio-conjugations and
- other bio molecules as diagnostic agents for their therapeutic applications.

- have knowledge of basic computer, strong leadership and project management.
-
- Professional Experience:
-
- Program Manager (Aug. 1991 - Present)
- ANDRULIS Pharmaceutical Corporation, Beltsville, MD 20705
-
- Designed and implemented research programs in the areas of organometallic
- anti-tumor drugs, rationale drug design, bio conjugation, polymeric drug
- delivery system. Developed new and improved existing methodologies for
- synthesis of activated biocompatible polymers and their conjugation with
- therapeutic drugs. Developed effective analytical techniques for
- characterization of polymer-drug conjugates. Initiated and supervised several
- collaborative projects with other major pharmaceutical companies. Prepared and
- managed project performance plans, schedule, budgets and staffing. Prepared
- technical, management, cost proposals and developed approaches to business
- opportunities. Provide technical supervision and advices to a staff of
- scientists. Prepared and submit progress and final report.
-
- Instructor (Oct. 1989 - Aug. 1991)
- Univ. of Massachusetts Medical School, Dept. of Pharmacology
-
- Synthesis and mechanistic study of specific nucleotide inhibitors for mammalian
- DNA polymerases and nucleotide binding proteins to develop new chemotherapeutic
- agents; designed and prepared an oligodeoxy nucleotide for chemical and
- enzymatic incorporation study; synthesized novel nucleosides and nucleotides as
- anti-viral and anti-tumor agents; prepared novel corbohydrates for
- regiospecific and regioselective synthesis of anti-AIDS drugs. Supervised
- ongoing projects, post-docs and technicians.
-
- Sr. Research Scientist (Nov. 1986 - Oct. 1989)
- Univ. of Massachusetts Medical School, Dept. of Nuclear Medicine
-
- Worked on a research project with responsibility for the development of new
- radio pharmaceuticals as diagnostic agents for their therapeutic application in
- cancer study. Applicant developed novel organic bifunctional chelating agents
- for radiolabeling of monoclonal antibodies and proteins. Produced and purified
- proteins after chemical modification and coupled with biocytin and streptavidin
- for abcess imaging study. Modern chromatographic (FPLC, HPLC, LC, SDS-PAGE) and
- spectroscopic (NMR, IR, UV, MS, GC-MS), state of the art technique were used at
- various stages for the preparation of these bio-molecules. Supervised and
- managed synthetic organic chemistry lab. Directed radiopharmaceutical
- preparations for different patient studies and determined pharmacokinetics in a
- clinical study for a radiolabeled ACE antigen antibody (multidisciplinary joint
- research project with other major pharmaceutical companies like Abbott,
- Centocor, Cytogen, etc.).
-
- Research Associate (June 1982 - Nov. 1986)
- Univ. of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharm. Sciences
-
- Responsible for synthesis of heterocyclic organic and other pharmaceutical
- compounds for their pharmacological evaluation. Major goal was achieved by
- developing a number of novel radiolabeled and unlabeled nucleosides and
- nucleotides as diagnostic agents for oncology and virology. Some of these
- agents demonstrated significant antitumor and antiviral activities and clinical
- study is in progress against HSV I, HSV II, EBV and HCM virus. Advanced
- synthetic methodologies including multistep synthetic sequences,
- chromatographic and spectral interpretation were used to develop these agents.
- This research program was funded for four years. Supervised graduate students
- and lab technicians.
-
- Visiting Research Scientist (Jan. 1981 - June 1982)
- Univ. of Tokushima, Japan, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharm. Sciences
-
- Designed and developed a research program in synthetic organic chemistry. A
- wide variety of pharmaceutical compounds were synthesized and studied for
- antitumor and other biological properties. Spectroscopic techniques were used
- for structural determination and to follow reaction mechanism for the synthesis
- of these pharmaceutical compounds. A novel synthetic method was developed for
- the preparation of these compounds.
-
- Postdoctoral Research Fellow (May 1979 - Dec. 1981)
- Lucknow University, India, Dept. of Chemistry
-
- Developed 4(3H)-quinazolone derivatives by modern synthetic methods and studied
- their antimicrobial and anti-acetylcholinesterase activities.
