  44.                              My responsibilities include all operations duties
  45.         for a large computer operations center. I routinely 
  46.         perform system startups, shutdowns, and backups. In 
  47.         addition to administering my own machine, I have written
  48.         the procedures and code necessary to perform the system 
  49.         backups on our VAX-Ultrix system. I am a member of the 
  50.         committee designing the new backup, archiving, and 
  51.         vaulting procedures needed for the "AFS" environment 
  52.         currently in use.
  53.               I have written all the documentation for the 
  54.         procedures that I have developed. I am also called upon 
  55.         to review other documents for correctness and additional
  56.         input. I have coded an interface that allows operators to 
  57.         easily update the system status, yet provide a readable 
  58.         text file for users to access. When not maintaining the 
  59.         programs and procedures that I've developed, I upgrade 
  60.         and enhance the Ultrix machine that I administer. Examples 
  61.         include the incorporation of AFS, implementing an anonymous 
  62.         FTP service, and upgrading various tools to the GNU 
  63.         versions available.

  70.              I worked to help create a relaxed atmosphere in 
  71.         which I could aid users in finding solutions to their 
  72.         various individual problems. I contributed to the design 
  73.         and implementation of the software tracking system, 
  74.         which utilized Dbase. I was also a participant in the 
  75.         "consultant database" project. This project, written in C 
  76.         on an Ultrix platform, utilized SQL for it's relational 
  77.         database. Other lab duties involved keeping the software 
  78.         up to date, backed up, and secure.
